Help Us Distribute a Record Number of Coats to Kids in 2014!
In 2009, the Knights of Columbus launched the Coats for Kids initiative designed to keep kids warm in harsh winter climates. Many families struggling in tough economic times have young children that need warmth but lack the funds to provide quality winter protection. It is easy to identify those who need assistance. It is much harder to provide quality winter coats to those who need help in their communities. And so, the Coats for Kids program was born.
The winter of 2013-14 was one that will be remembered for its severe weather conditions. It was also a record year for the Coats for Kids program. During that time, Coats for Kids purchased and donated 51,924 coats to children in need. That is 10,000 more coats distributed than the previous winter’s total and hundreds more cities participating than the prior year.
This year, GiveBack360 is teaming up with the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul and other nonprofits to help expand the Coats for Kids program so that, together, we can all provide even more warmth to kids in more communities across our country.
Since the program’s inception, the Knights of Columbus in the United States and Canada has given away more than 167,000 coats to children in need. Approximately 2,000 local Knights of Columbus councils have participated in their communities. This year GiveBack360 invites all nonprofits to unite around making the holidays warmer for everyone.
