Introduction
We are the Marina Girls’ Soccer Program. We have a lasting tradition of achieving excellence both on and off the field. We develop our players into college prospects both on the field as well as in the class room. We currently boast the highest percentage of scholar athletes for our school. We are a driving force in our athletics and continue to strive for greater success.
Mission
We currently need to raise funds to fund our current needs. For our program to truly become elite, we need to be able to provide our players with technical and physical training, new equipment, tournament funds, off-season and in-season tutoring, coaching education, as well as facilities maintence and improvements. We need to be able to generate enough to provide a foundation to expand our reach and open doors that were once closed to our players.
Vision
We wish to turn Marina Girls Soccer into the pinnacle of what high school athletics should be about. We want to invest in our girls futures by providing the structure, support and discipline they need to fight through the tough times. We want to change the culture surrounding our campus and show the area that we are serious contenders. We want our girls to see High School as the neccessary step to college, and we want them to be able to keep as many doors open to them as possible as they figure out their life’s passions. Its our job to keep them eligible for all of life’s opportunities.
Activities
During the winter season we compete in a rigorous schedule of games and tournaments, including of course Sunset League. When we reach Spring we fund technical training, physical training, academic support, as well as visiting Marina events or athletics. Our summer includes our summer camp and league where we reinvigorate ourselves for the passion of the game and create lasting friendships as the school year approaches. In the fall, we maintain our spring training and support, while also providing injury prevention classes for our players.
Achievements
Over the last ten seasons we have had 3 CIF appearances, of those appearances we met new heights when we reached the quarterfinals. We compete in the Sunset League and have major victories against Edison and Los Alamitos, teams consistently in the top 10 in California.
